Fecal Testing
It is important to test your pet’s stool to ensure no other parasites or issues exist. A quick and easy fecal exam can protect your pets and your family. Fecals enable veterinarians to determine if your pet has intestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, coccidia and
giardia; and some gastrointestinal parasites (like Roundworms) are contagious to humans and not all GI parasites will be destroyed by deworming medication. Since intestinal parasites live in your pet’s gastrointestinal tract, they are usually hidden from view. Unlike external parasites like fleas and ticks, most intestinal parasites are never seen. The only way to detect the presence of intestinal parasites and identify them is by doing a fecal and reading the sample under a microscope.
